Visitors’ Infrastructures & Services – Syremont https://syremont.it/en Cultural Heritage Infrastuctures Wed, 09 May 2018 11:04:48 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Great Pompeii Project – Tender for “Improvement of tour arrangements and potentiating the cultural offer of the archeological site of Pompeii” https://syremont.it/en/grande-progetto-pompei-appalto-per-miglioramento-delle-modalita-di-visita-e-per-il-potenziamento-dellofferta-culturale-del-sito-archeologico-di-pompei/ Tue, 22 Mar 2016 19:34:43 +0000 https://syremont.it/?p=2130 Location: Italy, Campania, Pompei

Contracting Authority: Superintendence for the Archeological Heritage of Pompeii, Herculaneum and Stabiae

Financing: public

Date of realization: 31/12/2015

Contractor: Consorzio Arte’M – Partners: Syremont s.p.a – Altair 4 Multimedia s.r.l. –  Centrica s.r.l. – D’Uva Workshop s.r.l. – L’Erma di Bretschneider s.r.l. – Prismi Editrice Politecnica Napoli s.r.l.

Description: The operation performed by Syremont is part of a wider program of interventions aimed at the implementation of the project for the improvement of the tour arrangements and to potentiate the cultural offer of the Pompeii archeological site through the construction of outfittings, physical and virtual installations, multimedia production and software applications that, all together, contribute to structure and articulate the new system of the archeological site.

The intervention of Syremont affected the Ekklesiasterion area, an area of about 100 square meters near the Temple of Isis. The space is circumscribed by archeological masonry, which is in part original and in part a reconstruction, of variable height between 2.70 m and up to a maximum of about 4.50 m.

The peculiarity of the intervention was to have designed and built an infrastructure intended for use within an archeological area that is part of UNESCO’s World Heritage. Approved by the Superintendence of Pompeii, Herculaneum and Stabiae and the Seismic Commission, the structure is lightweight, self-supporting, detachable but statically verified according to the requirements of the category of User Class III, as required by the Technical Regulations for Construction of 2008. The foundations are superficial and consist of an adequately dimensioned ballast that did not require excavation nor anchorages for the existing structures.

The supporting structure is made entirely of truss frameworks, covered in an insulated package and finished with an extrados of copper foils and copper gutters.

A double package of perforated and not and projecting and not PVC screens, allowed us to visually integrate the structure in the archeological contest and create a confined environment inside that is suitable for daytime screenings.

Enhancement Of The Cave Of The Gods – Manaccora Bay – Peschici https://syremont.it/en/la-grotta-degli-dei-baia-di-manaccora-peschici/ Thu, 26 Sep 2013 08:04:54 +0000 https://syremont.it/?p=235 Location: Italy, Puglia, Peschici (Foggia)
Committee: Town of Peschici
Financing: public
Inauguration date: 2005
Description: cultural infrastructure for the enhancement of the archeological area through the creation of a system of works, supplies and services designed to expand the cultural offer

Intervention Objective: The municipal government of Peschici asked to carry out an innovative project to fruition with the aim of expanding the cultural offerings of the site. The Grottone Manaccora dating back to the Bronze Age, is a natural cave that goes into the bowels of the earth for over 90 meters. In the centuries it hosted populations while preserving their traces. On the promontory of Punta Manaccora you can still see a Neolithic settlement, identified by perimeter ditches of huts, a necropolis located at the extreme tip of the area, and the remains of walls brought to light by excavations.
Along the side walls of the cave, the men of the Bronze Age built subterranean structures by exploiting the natural grottos and smaller cavities that opened along the walls and on the bottom. The story begins in Manaccora, at a time of great religious fervor for the people who inhabited the region, engaged in the search for suitable places to worship, intended to accommodate rites of fertility. The site is within walking distance from the beach and is located about 25 meters from the shoreline.
The visits were organized on request and required the presence of a companion. Our intervention was to provide a structure to welcome visitors on site, prepare a memorandum to view, use the cave safely and, as independently as possible, sell books and objects on the spot.
The site has been contracted out to an operator who has been in the industry for four years.

Syremont Activity:

  • historical research and production of texts for the dissemination and promotion of the site;
  • elaboration of a story to accompany the view;
  • engineering of special helmets with Bluetooth receivers of the signal emitted by the listening posts along the tour route;
  • installation of a Bluetooth system along the tour route for audio transmission in conjunction with the approach of the visitor to the point of listening;
  • the recording of the story in five languages;
  • construction of an indoor space and facilities to accommodate visitors (precarious and removable structure);
  • creating space equipped for watching an introductory video to the visit, for the distribution of engineered helmets, for ticket sales, for publishing and merchandising;
  • promotion and communication.

Tourist circuit for the enhancement of the town of Burgio https://syremont.it/en/burgio-centro-visite/ Tue, 24 Sep 2013 16:10:57 +0000 https://syremont.it/?p=250 Location: Italy, Sicily, Burgio (Agrigento)
Committee: Town of Burgio
Financing: public
Inauguration: 2012
Description: creation of a tourist circuit of visits to enhance the use of the historical and artistic heritage and to valorize the culture and tourism in the territory.

Intervention Objective: The will of the municipal administration was to create a system offering sevices and places that allow them to highlight the history of Burgio, the historical and artistic heritage, the arts and crafts of the local tradition. At the same time as our project, the town had the MUCEB Ceramics Museum opened in 2012 with a collection of ancient pottery that valorized the distinctive characteristics of local production. For the application of deeper and broader projects to boost the tourist sector, the Town Council has made arrangements at an old railway station, already restored, with an adjoining garden that has become the focus of our intervention. The former railway station is now a visitor center where the tourist comes in contact with the history and traditions of Burgio, embracing the themes of the working of stone, iron, glass, bells, ceramics, cultural heritage and landscape (churches, sculptures, monuments, castle) and the popular traditions of the deep religious spirit that binds the people to the Venerable Andrea from Burgio.
Our work has allowed us to promote this heritage and to create a system of services and areas that favored the link between the various cultural attractions located in the municipal area (Ceramics Museum, shops, churches, monuments, nature park).
The ultimate goal, no less important, was to form a select group of young people for the future activities of management services to the public.

Syremont’s Activities:

  • study of history, antique arts and crafts, folk tradition and the cultural and natural heritage of the area;
  • production of educational content and dissemination of the entire communication system;
  • photographic and video footage of the country’s cultural heritage, popular demonstrations, craft shops;
  • production of a promotional video of the territory and traditions and interview with the Mayor;
  • production of all means of communication (informative panels, guide, road signs, banners, texts for the video);
  • preparation for a visitor center (outlet with local handicraft products – permanent exhibition – tasting area) equipped with video projections –
  • tasting area, ticket office and bookshop – photographic blow-ups;
  • construction of a landscaped garden adjacent to the visitor center equipped for the organization of outdoor events (exhibitions, festivals , promotional events), and for citizens’ enjoyment;
  • construction of a cafeteria equipped with a kitchen for food preparation and outdoor dining area;
  • a photo exhibition dedicated to the Venerable Andrea from Burgio at the Benedictine convent of Burgio;
  • building and plant works preparatory to the infrastructure listed;
  • training of young people on issues of management services to the public, knowledge of the history and traditions of local control and maintenance of equipped spaces.
