Description: cultural infrastructure for the enhancement of the archeological area through the creation of a system of works, supplies and services designed to expand the cultural offer

Intervention Objective: The municipal government of Peschici asked to carry out an innovative project to fruition with the aim of expanding the cultural offerings of the site. The Grottone Manaccora dating back to the Bronze Age, is a natural cave that goes into the bowels of the earth for over 90 meters. In the centuries it hosted populations while preserving their traces. On the promontory of Punta Manaccora you can still see a Neolithic settlement, identified by perimeter ditches of huts, a necropolis located at the extreme tip of the area, and the remains of walls brought to light by excavations.
Along the side walls of the cave, the men of the Bronze Age built subterranean structures by exploiting the natural grottos and smaller cavities that opened along the walls and on the bottom. The story begins in Manaccora, at a time of great religious fervor for the people who inhabited the region, engaged in the search for suitable places to worship, intended to accommodate rites of fertility. The site is within walking distance from the beach and is located about 25 meters from the shoreline.
The visits were organized on request and required the presence of a companion. Our intervention was to provide a structure to welcome visitors on site, prepare a memorandum to view, use the cave safely and, as independently as possible, sell books and objects on the spot.
The site has been contracted out to an operator who has been in the industry for four years.

Syremont Activity:

• historical research and production of texts for the dissemination and promotion of the site;
• elaboration of a story to accompany the view;
• engineering of special helmets with Bluetooth receivers of the signal emitted by the listening posts along the tour route;
• installation of a Bluetooth system along the tour route for audio transmission in conjunction with the approach of the visitor to the point of listening;
• the recording of the story in five languages;
• construction of an indoor space and facilities to accommodate visitors (precarious and removable structure);
• creating space equipped for watching an introductory video to the visit, for the distribution of engineered helmets, for ticket sales, for publishing and merchandising;
• promotion and communication.
